About Karl
I’m Karl Emerick Hanuska, a portrait and editorial photographer in Amsterdam. I photograph artists, leaders, teams and organisations.
More than thirty years in journalism and senior communications roles taught me to listen, read a room and understand what people need to communicate.
That experience helps me make photographs with a purpose, from a personal profile to a company publication or live event.
The working relationship
Clear direction. Room for you.
I prepare carefully and guide the session, while leaving room for your character and ideas. We make the photographs together.
I work from a private portrait studio in central Amsterdam, throughout the Netherlands and on selected international assignments.
Personal and artistic work
Visibility, identity, performance and transformation.
My personal work explores visibility, identity, performance and transformation through painterly portraits. It informs how I photograph people and the ways they want to be seen.
