Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about portrait sessions, commercial assignments and the practical process of working together.

01I do not feel comfortable in front of a camera. Can you help?

Yes. I explain what to expect and give calm, specific direction. You don’t need experience in front of the camera.

02Where can a portrait session take place?

I am based in Amsterdam and work on location. We agree the space, access, travel and any studio or specialist support needed before booking. Additional locations and return visits can be included in the proposal.A portrait session can also take place in my central Amsterdam studio, nearby interiors or outdoors.

03How are sessions and assignments priced?

Each assignment is quoted individually. Your proposal sets out the preparation, photography, number of finished images, retouching, usage and delivery schedule. Any travel, studio hire or additional production costs are confirmed before booking.

04How are images selected and delivered?

For portrait sessions, we agree who will choose the final images and how the selection will be reviewed. For workplace and event coverage, I normally curate the collection to tell the story clearly. Your proposal confirms the number of finished photographs. Final images are normally supplied as high-resolution JPEGs, with versions for web and social use; other formats can also be agreed. We confirm the file specifications and delivery method in advance, in line with your organisation’s information-security requirements. Unedited camera files are not part of the standard delivery.

05What should I wear?

We discuss clothing beforehand. Bring options that feel like you and fit the purpose of the photographs. For teams, I can provide shared preparation guidance.

06How much retouching is included?

Your finished photographs are carefully edited for colour, exposure and consistency. Selected portraits also receive subtle retouching where needed, such as temporary blemishes and minor distractions, while preserving natural skin texture and individual features. More extensive changes, including complex hair or clothing work, background replacement and compositing, are discussed and quoted separately.

07When will we receive our photographs?

Proofs are normally ready within 3–5 working days of the shoot. The final gallery normally follows within 5–7 working days of receiving your confirmed selection and editing requests, depending on the content and the extent of the work required. For workplace and event coverage without a proof-selection stage, the edited collection is normally ready within 5–7 working days of the shoot. We confirm the schedule before booking and agree any revised delivery date if additional work is requested. Please mention any publication deadline when enquiring.

08Can we combine headshots and workplace photographs?

Yes. We plan them as separate parts of the assignment so both receive the time they need. Whether they fit in one visit depends on the number of people, locations and scope.

09How do we plan a team photography day?

I help you prepare a practical schedule and share guidance on clothing and what to expect. The time needed depends on the number of people, the portrait style and any workplace photography included. We plan these together so the session fits your working day.

10What happens when new colleagues join?

Follow-up sessions for new colleagues can be arranged. I document the lighting, background and framing of your series to help future portraits sit naturally alongside the existing photographs.

11Can we request changes or additional photographs?

Please send any feedback through your nominated contact so I can review it together. Small finishing adjustments and requests for additional images are handled according to the agreed scope. I will confirm any extra fee before carrying out additional work.

12Where can we use the photographs?

We agree the intended use before the shoot and record it in your proposal. Tell me whether the images are for your website, social channels, press, internal communications or an advertising campaign, so the permissions match your plans.

13What if our plans change?

Please contact me as soon as your plans change. The booking terms set out how rescheduling, cancellation and any committed production costs are handled, and are provided before you confirm the assignment.

14How do we begin?

Tell me what the photographs are for, how many people are involved, where you would like to shoot and when you need the finished images. I will suggest a suitable approach and prepare a clear proposal.
